I suppose before I get into the why let's talk about what Florida Water is. And no it’s not just water from Florida. Agua De Florida aka Florida Water is a cologne or perfume that originated in the 1800’s. It is called “Florida Water” from the enchanting properties of the Fountain of Youth which was once believed to be found in Florida. It is an alcohol based cologne with a blend of citrus and floral essential oils. There are many DIY recipes you can find online or you can purchase the Murray and Lanman brand at a store near you. Their label displays the inspired ancient image of the Fountain of Youth. 

Today Florida Water is very popular in the spiritual community. Latin and Indigenous communities have used this tool in their spiritual practices for centuries in a variety of ways. Traditionally Florida Water is used to cleanse or protect a person, a room or an altar. In Peru the Paqos, I suppose you could interpret as a Shaman, use this spiritual water to banish spirits during a ceremony where this water would be sprayed or spat on you. 

Florida Water is recognized for its ability to improve your mood by calming your nerves while promoting overall well-being. This spiritual tool can also be used in a variety of purification or ceremonial rituals. You can use it like a liquid form of sage to cleanse negative or stagnant energy around your home. Another way to bless your home would be to use Florida Water to clean counters, mop floors, or wash your windows. This will call in peace and positivity to your home. Add it to bath water to clear your energy field or during your spiritual bath rituals. It can also be used energetically for protection or to connect to your ancestors or spirit team.
