Lotus Flower
🪷Lotus Flower
The Lotus Flower is revered as one of the most sacred flowers in many Eastern religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, & Jainism associated with several powerful gods. In ancient Egypt this flower was used in art to represent the sun, often associated with the Sun God Ra.
Egyptian women wore lotus amulets simultaneously with charms of the fertility goddess, Heqet, during childbirth.
Indian religions & ancient Greece signified the Lotus with purity, modesty & innocence. Similar to the Buddha who is often seen sitting on a lotus, Hindu gods are depicted in art often holding or standing in a lotus.
The Lotus is said to symbolize womanhood. The bud represents purity & virginity while the fully-grown blossom embodies the wisdom and experience of a mature woman.
The Lotus Flower blossoms from muddy waters. Its petals rise above the water to bloom on the surface. It follows the movement of the sun before submerging back to the muddy water. Each day the lotus reamerges untainted by its journey.
The roots anchored in mud expresses the challenges in life. The flower is the result of us overcoming our obstacles. The Lotus blooms one petal at a time reflecting our individual progress.
