Eclipse season is here! An eclipse occurs when one heavenly body such as a moon or planet moves into the shadow of another heavenly body. New Moons bring Solar Eclipses. This happens when the moon passes in front of the Sun and partially blocks the view from Earth. Full Moons bring Lunar Eclipses when the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow. We can have up to 7 eclipses in a year.
In ancient times a Solar Eclipse was something to be afraid of. They were believed to bring disaster. The Aztecs sacrificed people with light complexion to stop the sun from darkening forever. In Australia, Aboriginal groups associated solar eclipses with evil magic, bad omens or death. Yugoslavians and Siberians linked solar eclipses to werewolves and vampires.
Although many people today may still believe in superstitions that surround this celestial event most of us will gather to watch in awe of this cosmic event. Eclipses are often looked at as the Universe shifting gears.
Eclipses in general are thought to bring change, transformation and growth. Solar Eclipses are linked to new beginnings, positive energy, abundance, potent activation, personal growth, and introspection. Lunar Eclipses can bring, in a sense, a means to an end or an uncovering of what no longer serves you while bringing intuitive activations.
Spiritually an eclipse can be a portal into another life. Some believe if you have wandered off your soul's path the eclipse will set you right. If you reincarnated with a specific life purpose and have fallen off track an eclipse can bring you back to where you need to be! Ultimately an eclipse wants to shake things up with its high octane energy. They are activating, stirring you into action, their portals create openings or closings for beginnings or endings.
Eclipses have the power to catapult you into a whole new direction in life. If you follow your birth chart look at the theme of the House the eclipse falls in to track what changes are to come. Love, money, family, joy, health, etc. Positive changes are to come to this area. When an eclipse hits your Sun, Moon, or Rising signs the transformations become even more powerful!
