Apple Magic
First let me say something that may sound a little odd, I recently joined a coven of witches! Our group was formed by the lovely Shelby Cobra owner of The Mothership shop. I first met Shelby at an Austin Witches Market. I was drawn to Shelby's table because when I first purchased my family van my husband and I gave it the nickname of The Mothership. My daughter ended up purchasing a miniature witch kit & I talked to Shelby about her various products. She was so kind and easy to talk to that I decided to follow her on IG. I am so happy I did! A couple of months later she posted about creating a coven for anyone who may be interested.
We had our first official meeting in October. Our coven will gather monthly to learn rituals together and share knowledge. Our group is fubof beautiful diverse witches with no hierarchy. Each witch holds different gifts and a variety of knowledge. I am so excited to learn new rituals and share what I have learned with you!
At the end of our meeting each of us was given a green apple. We were instructed to cut it in half widthwise. Then to bury one half outside of our home, preferably an area you pass by regularly to enter or exit. For anyone who lives in an apartment you could burry it in a potted plant or anywhere outside of your apartment building. The other half was to be displayed on our altars. I had never heard of this ritual before so I looked up the symbolism of apples. Here is what I learned!
Green apples help us release unloving thoughts. 💚

Apples in Mythology:
In Greek Mythology the apple is the most sacred of trees and symbolizes good health and happiness. Hera received an apple as a symbol of fertility when she married Zeus.
Aphrodite, the goddess of love, is often associated with apple trees known as the Tree of Love.
In Norse Mythology Idunn was the keeper of magic apples that gave the gods the gift of immortality.
Celtic Mythology believe apples bring rebirth, healing and connections to nature. Apples were buried in graves as food for the dead.
Apple Rituals:
Apples are used during the Mabon & Samhain seasons. Mabon is the Autumnal equinox that marks the first day of autumn. It's a Pagan holiday that celebrates gratitude for the year's harvest. A time to give offerings to the land, prepare for the cold and bring in the harvest. Samhain is a Gaelic Festival marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter also known as the "darker-half" of the year. This is usually celebrated from October 31 to November 1st. If you celebrate Mabon or Samhain you can decorate your fall altar with fresh apples or dried apple slices.
Apple offerings. You can place an apple outside in your garden or under a tree as a token of appreciation for the abundance of Nature.
Cut an apple widthwise to reveal a pentagram for use in rituals and altar decor. Set your intentions into an apple. Eat half and bury the other half outside your home to attract what you want in your life.
If you have an apple tree growing in your yard you can use the branches to make a wand.
The seeds of an apple can be used in protection spells.
